Staff Wellness and Resilience

Dr. Bourke is committed to the psychological health and wellbeing of investigators, administrative personnel, legal professionals, and other public safety first responders who work with difficult material and/or are exposed to traumatic events.

He is a recognized expert on this topic, and he has published and provided training in the area of staff wellness for more than a decade.

In this course, he describes what happens in the brain when personnel are exposed to disturbing media or accounts, provides current theoretical explanations for secondary traumatic stress and vicarious trauma, and—most importantly—discusses what we can do about it.

A significant portion of the following courses is devoted to techniques proven effective for increasing resilience and strategies for coping with secondary stress, specific to each population.
